Sigma DP1 14MP Digital Camera Available Soon!
Everyone’s a photographer these days, aren’t they. It’s hard to imagine a time not so long ago when so many of us didn’t have a camera literally attached to our hips.
But the advent of the smartphone, we now have the ability to take a picture almost anywhere, at any time we want. But does that mean we should?
In the world of professional photography, there are still some folks who pride themselves on taking their photos seriously, and taking price in how they come out. For these people, there are cameras such as the Sigma DP1 14MP camera that will hit fine retailers very soon.
Now let’s do a little review, thanks to the very knowledgeable people at trustedreviews.com for what they had to say about this new camera.
There’s one compact camera that has caught the imagination of photographers over the last couple of years. It’s rare for a compact to stir up much anticipation, but the Sigma DP1 has done just that. It’s been a long time coming, being first announced at Photokina 2006 as a development model.
The main reason for the fuss is its sensor: the controversial Foveon X3 sensor capable of 14MP resolution, and the first APS-C sized sensor in a compact digicam.
As you may expect with digital cameras, the sensor is a very large part of how images are taken and delivered to our eye, as trustedreviews.com points out.
The sensor, last seen in the Sigma SD14 DSLR, has aroused criticism due to the way the image is captured by three layers of photocells buried within differing depths of the silicon substrate. One of silicon’s properties is the way it absorbs red, green and blue light at different depths and Foveon uses that property to build the pixels within three strata of the chip.
Traditional CCD or CMOS sensors have the photocells on top of the chip, and use a Bayer RGB filter to separate the different colours. This has led critics of the Foveon chip to claim it’s a lower resolution sensor of 4.7M as that is the final image size you end up with.
On one side of the argument, the sensor does have 14MP (4.7MP over each three layers) but the flip side of the argument is that the final image is only made up of 4.7MP in total of those images. I’ll leave the argument to be fought out in the forums, but in terms of image quality and so forth the image produced is 4.7MP, and that’s what we’ll take as our starting point for assessment.
Sigma has developed a new processor, the Three-layer Responsive Ultimate Engine or TRUE, which is designed specifically to deal with the files from the sensor and also handle JPEG conversion, a feature lacking on the early Sigma DSLR range which were RAW-only until last year’s SD14.
OK, now we know a little bit about some of the more technical things. But not everybody is interested in knowing how something ticks. There are, believe it or not, many people who simply want to buy a new camera and take wonderful images with it.
So who is this camera for? Will it be a great match for you, or is it a professional only type of camera? You’ll be happy to know that no matter what your skill level, this camera can be all for you.
This is a camera definitely aimed at the enthusiast. There’s a lack of scene modes, with only PASM control, along with a movie mode.
It has a pop up flash, as well as a hot shoe which accepts a dedicated flash unit. The hot shoe also accepts an optical viewfinder, as the camera lacks a built in viewfinder due to the large 2.5in LCD screen, dominating the back of the camera.
The option of the viewfinder is good, but I’d prefer one built in to the body of the camera itself, though this would necessitate either a smaller LCD screen or a larger camera, so we have to accept some design compromise.
It’s nice to know that people of all skill levels can enjoy and take great photos with a nice piece of equipment. Sometimes it feels awkward being new in a hobby and trying to learn about it when you are in the company of experts.
With a greenhorn friendly camera like the Sigma DP1 though, you can rest assured that you are in good company as you shoot your world.

Piles During Pregnancy - How To Stop Pregnancy Hemorrhoids SafelyHemorrhoid Cure | Piles Cure Safely
Pregnancy Hemorrhoids? Some Tips For Piles During Pregnancy
For a lot of women, piles during pregnancy are a frequent problem for three primary reasons:
1. The increase in abdominal weight causes pressure in the rectum and around the anus.
2. You are prone toward constipation which is a disaster for hemorrhoids.
3. The strain during the delivery is often just too much for the tender rectal tissue.
There are many steps at home you can take to avoid and relieve hemorrhoid symptoms though.
- Avoid constipation! Do this by increasing your daily intake of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains (bread, pasta, cereal). Drink more water to help the fiber along.
- Do not sit on the toilet for more than 10 minutes at a time, no matter how constipated you feel.
- Add a bit of exercise to your daily routine. Take short walks if you can. Get up and stretch and move around every hour or so. Change position frequently in your chair even if it is just shifting your weight from one side to the other. Keep yourself meticulously clean, especially after bowel movements.
- Don’t rub the anus with toilet paper. Use a soft moist cloth and gently pat yourself dry.
- If you are having an hemorrhoid “crisis” (pain, bleeding, itching) try to soak your anal region in warm water throughout the day. Use a pan or specially designed plastic item called a Sitz bath (since you probably can’t lower yourself into the tub). Apply pads soaked with witch hazel to your anus throughout the day.

Outdoor Decorating With Flair
Do you want to know how to bring some pizzazz to your outdoor space? If you are thinking of learning outdoor decorating with flair, then I am going to give some tips and pointers that I have learned over the years.
It is possible to have some unforgettable scenarios in your yard without spending a lot of money or time. In a few short steps I am going to show some decorating ideas that will be quite unique.
First of all if clearing some space is needed, do that first. Simple things a little at a time such asraking, pulling weeds, hauling out unnecessary trash that has accumulated over the years.
Second, search attics, yard sales, antique shops, any place you can find some hidden treasure that will liven up your yard. Don’t toss anything out that could have a possibility to inspire. Sometimes just a little sprucing up can do.
Architecture is the way to bring some eye candy into yards. Granted it can sometimes be costly, but it can be worth it to spend a little extra. Here are some ideas to help you along: take an old water fountain that is cracked and no longer works.
Fill it with dirt, plant some hanging ivy, pansies of any color, maybe some ornamental grass and top it off with a statue of some sort. Old washers make great planters. The one pictured has herbs planted in it and sits by the back door ready to be picked for a meal. Children’s old toys are great!
I have an old toy fire truck that I keep in my yard and my friend has an old toy station wagon in hers. One of my favorites is a green goat cart with a planter of petunias placed inside.
You can take old gates and fences and use for climbing plants. The picture with the white bird bath has clematis growing up two old wrought iron sides of a child’s crib.
An old Bunsen Burner with a plant on it is really attractive. This is an old burner I bought on an antiquing expedition with a friend. I got it at a steal because it was covered with grime.
The pink bistro table and chairs on my from porch were just an inexpensive set from a discount store. I sprayed it pink and it turned into a great snazzy piece.
I live in a climate that freezes every winter and also early spring when I least expect it. I know from experience after losing a costly curly willow tree that I had on my from porch in a pot.
I couldn’t bring myself to throw it away because the branches are really nice. Instead I planted a climbing ivy beside it and trained the ivy to climb on the branches.
I love Paris! I buy every type of Eiffel Tower possible. They are perfect for any plant that climbs, plus it brings that nice European edge
to my yard. Last but not least, a water fountain or treatment is a must.
Nothing is more relaxing than listening to water bubble. add some wind chimes, a comfortable chair and enjoy your yard. Keep checking back to the blog to get more inexpensive and unique decorating ideas.
Future blogs will include a Hair Salon with a “twist” called Industrial Chic. Also in the future, handmade jewelry including Steampunk items.

Leica X1 Digital Camera - Don't Shoot Without It!Gadget Dork
Leica X1 Digital Camera
Leica X1 Digital Camera Quick Stats:
Pros: Easy to use, light-weight design, stunning image quality using RAW files and small and pocket friendly design is perfect for the on the go photographer, the expert or the novice just starting out.
Cons: JPEG images could be a bit better, and it can be a bit slow on focusing speed, and the price tag is high for many users.
Quick Summary: Overall a nice, solid camera designed to shoot high quality images quickly and on the go. While many first time photographers and experts alike will love the ease in shooting and benefits of the Leica X1 camera, they may be a bit turned off by the high pice tag (Starts at $1800).
Not the very best in its class, but if you are looking for a durable, rugged quality camera that is easy to use and still takes good quality pictures it is worth a look for sure.
Photography:
If you prefer to shoot your subjects and get the most out of them using straight JPG images, you may not find this camera all that stunning. The color vibrancy of images shot by the Lieca X1 in JPG mode only seemed a bit flat and boring compared to what is possible.
And what is possible with RAW image files and the addition of Adobe Photoshop Lightroom are simply stunning visual colors that are better than real world to some eyes. If you often shoot in areas where being quiet is a good thing, or if you simply don’t like to hear the sound of the shudder, the X1 is quiet enough to keep you satisfied.
Zoom:
The Leica X1 does not have a zoom feature. All images shot with the camera must be taken at a reasonable distance depending on the effect wanted.
Functionality:
The X1 is surprisingly easy to use and has an array of buttons on the back side for manual manipulation.
Speed:
The AF of the X1 is particularly slow and laggy from the time you press the button to the time the image is written to SD. For photographers who have no patience and do not like any lag in a higher end camera, this may not be the best choice of camera in its class.
Value: The X1 is designed to take brilliant RAW images built around a lightweight and very sturdy frame. This is a no frills camera without a doubt though.
You won’t find a video button or a fast processing speed in the AF function with the X1 and if you are into shooting and developing straight JPEG files, you may be in for some lackluster photos compared to their RAW counterparts.

Yes yes yall..and it don't stop....
Well, for us guys who were kids in the 80's it's another end of an era. Long-time great and Beastie Boy Adam Yauch (MCA) died yesterday.
It seems some kind of cancer of his parotid gland is what finally killed the icon. That's really all I know about it, because I'm not some ghoul who wants to sit and talk about cancer.
I know nothing of cancer. Cancer is terrible. That is the extent of my knowledge.
I will also not sit here like some obsessed and delusional fan who is going to pretend like I lost my son today. MCA was and will always be simply awesome, and that is the absolute extent of what I know about the man.
If you were a kid in the late 80's you no doubt remember MCA, Mike D and the King Ad-rock drinking beer, partying like we all wanted to and singing some seriously cool ass songs.
Some people tried to write the Beasties off as some white fluke in rap, but let's face it...they were/are great and they did a whole lot for what rap music is today. If you don't believe that, then I guess you can enjoy listening to whatever terrible rap music you listen to today that is as unoriginal as most of the articles that will be written today about MCA.
But for those of us who were there, and grew up on the Beastie Boys and all of the wacky ass things they were always up to, today really is pretty sad.
And I'm not so sure it's about the normal thing you know. I mean, sure it's really awful that cancer is still running wild in the world and that it takes so many lives, no doubt about that.
But for me, someone who has no value of what cancer does to people, I only know that I feel like the things I've loved in life are withering away and becoming old, decrepit and fragile.
Everything I once loved was young, hip and as awesome as it could get. Now it's all been replaced by a society full of people who think watching idiots on TV acting like wannabe weekend warrior, steroid-ridden douchebags is the new cool.
For us guys who still can appreciate that it should take some actual talent to get somewhere in life, and especially in the entertainment industry, this is disheartening.
MCA was one of the true cool guys. No doubt about it, he had the cool voice, the cool lines in all of the Beastie Boys songs, and he was the official "tough guy" of the group...if not for anything other than his raspy voice.
I don't know about all of these people who will stand outside his New York City home and cry over his death. I don't know about all of the people who will try to make it seem like they lost their entire family today.
I don't know about that because I think it's absurd to think of a guy like MCA as being anything more than what he was. And to me, he was a super cool guy who was a great musician, activist and person.
I know very little of his real life behind the scenes, and I won't pretend to be broken up beyond belief at how he is no longer here.
But I will miss MCA Adam Yauch because he was an icon to me growing up. He is the ultimate symbol for the fact that I am getting old, and it sucks.
My idols are dying, getting old and in some cases no longer relevant to the majority of the target demographic in this world. What a shame.
I'll be just fine though. I won't be attending any memorials. I will not be posting on Facebook of how I just can't believe it, and "he was soooo young OMG".
B-E-A-S-T-I-E Boy MCA is dead, and there's not thing I can do except remember how truly awesome he was.

Decorating With Antiques – How I Do It
How many times have all of looked at our home and realized that our design scheme doesn’t fit our style any longer?
That is exactly what happened to me. There was a time in my life that I needed everything to match perfectly. Including, styles, colors, and accessories.
As time goes by I now find that my tastes have evolved from a style that I loved once to something I couldn’t any longer be comfortable in.
My last design scheme included dark Victorian scheme that was full of dark heavy furniture to costly antiques.
I’m not saying that this is a bad decorating idea, however, you can take that same look or any other “style” and mold it into your own look.
I found I was intrigued with the “Steampunk” flair, but with a less extreme look.
I took an old antique top hat and bowler and added some old jewelry and even a pair of goggles and they had a complete change over to the original boring look.
I love to take old dress forms and decoupaging old sheet music on them then dressing them in a made up Steampunk look using my old clothes.
I haven’t as of yet bought anything new.
The peacock I bought many years ago at an antique shop and he still looks good in his place of honor. I now find him much more interesting in his new surroundings.
Surrounding him I have pictures of a French singer from the 40s who I adore. Her name is Edith Piaf. She adds to the pizazz of the room.
Finding a couch or sitting area in my living room has never been easy.
I have had antique ones, new ones and even a pink one from a friend of mine. Nothing ever suited me. Looking in my back yard I found and old willow settee and chair that was probably headed for the dump.
My husband stripped off all the old bark, we stained and put a coat of finish on both of them, added some bright pillows and joila, a whole new look.
Since the floors are all hardwood, I felt I didn’t want to cover them up.
So I found I cowhide rug in a second hand shop and put that down. My house was built in the 1800′s so I needed to stay within a certain look, however like everything it is a work in progress.
